The highly popular and fun Evening of Rock-A-Billy & Swing Dancing returns to Berks Country Fest: An Americana Jamboree in the heart of Pennsylvania’s Americana Region, at the beautiful DoubleTree by Hilton Reading. It’s four great hours of music, dancing and fun featuring one of the cornerstone styles of Americana music.

Fun for fans of all ages, the Evening of Rock-A-Billy & Swing Dancing will feature three fabulous bands that will get you up and dancing on the DoubleTree’s spacious hardwood dance floor, right in front of the performance stage.  If you love dancing, you’re going to love this night, no question about it. Feel free to dress in vintage ’50s-’60s-era swing dance garb too!

From 7-7:45 p.m., Pawnshop Bound will warm things up with their tried and true street feel for rhythm, blues, rock-a-billy and no-nonsense, four-piece, tight renditions of dance floor classics.  You’ll be able to get your groove on right from the start of the night as Pawnshop Bound cranks you up with superb guitar playing, amazing harmonica (harp) playing, solid drumming and bass.  Veterans of the regional club and bar scene, this band knows how to get dancers going.

From 8-9 p.m., Johnny King & the Boppers are going to serve up throwback music that utilizes the full sonic power of twin saxophones, guitars, drums, keyboards and bass.  The six-piece band is going to perform dance music with hit after hit coming your way, including a special tribute to one of the world’s true Rock-A-Billy masters and pioneers, Little Richard, with the kind of instrumentation and band that he used back in the day when he brought dance and concert hall patrons to their feet as they “rolled” while he “rocked”.  Just like with our opening band, Pawnshop Bound, Johnny King & the Boppers are veterans of performing this style of music and much more and they’ll keep the party and your feet moving.

From 9:30-11 p.m., Flamin’ Dick & the Hot Rods return to put the icing on the cake, the exclamation mark on the sentence and the pedal to the metal.  There is no band in the land better at cranking out classic oldies from the rock-a-billy and early rock songbook! They romp through hit after hit after hit, leaving the audience and dancers breathless from their pace and professional delivery. Tight harmonies with solid rhythms and leads, and a true love and respect for the music they’re playing, are the hallmarks of this band.  It’s a six-piece band with each member being capable of carrying the show on their own. Dancers love their vibe and everyone loves to sing and clap along to what, for many, is the soundtrack of their life.
